Whitetail Deer
Connecticuts deer herd is very large and has a great season to hunt starting in Sept and running to the end of Jan in the southern zones with unlimited tags .
There are some real trophy bucks some scoring in the 180s I (Raven) shot this 140 plus buck during rifle season on private land. He was chasing a doe with another smaller buck, I watched them for more than an hour. Many times they would disapeared and returned to get my blood pumping, finally i got a clear shot at 90 yards.
This area that I took this buck from I have seen 8 different bucks during early bow season one was a huge 12 with a drop tine. I never got a good shot at him. The deer were traveling a funnel area between the feeding area and bedding area. I had my stand in a great location and only hunted this stand during the rut...
Muzzleloader season can be a rewarding time to hunt with the smokepole. I shot this nice 9 pointer near the same area that I (Raven2) shot the 10 point he was sounting for does in the post rut and came by my stand at 35 yards.
Late season Archery in zones 11 and 12 are a great time to top off the freezer with a nice deer like this one shot by (Scottyluck2)
