took the doggah for a walk in the back of the american legion in meriden yesterday around 4pm. used to live 3 houses away from there and i've been in and around there since i was 5 years old playing in the mud, fishing, paintballing, etc. seen thousands of tracks so i know they were around in numbers, been there some times at 4am fishing, and have never seen a deer.

started walking back on the small trail that follows the brook, and in the field about 100 yards away my Legion deer cherry was popped. silly dog stopped dead in her tracks and looked ready to take off and chase.

couldnt really get a good shot. cell phone cam can only doo so good at a distance.

I was out by the Silver City quarter midget track back in May with my brother and my nephew watching them help set up the track and we saw about four does just feeding away when the cars started up they didn't seem bothered at all. I know an older couple who live down from the track and they walk from there place on Glen Hills area to behind the track and the schools and they say they have seen a nice 6 and 8 point buck and a ton of does the last few years.

There are some nice deer around the South Meriden area and some big ones out by the old landfill by the airport. Only problem there isn't much property open to hunt any more,

Just gotta get permission from the right people. Thumbs up
A few tracts of private land that abut the Q river just directly across from the landfill.

you are right about 'big ones' in that area :P
